Factory dash AC is great for driving but does almost nothing once you park, so it is not a real substitute for off-grid cooling.

What is the actual difference between roof AC and dash AC?

If your factory dash AC is weak or dead, you are looking at repair, not a new install. Common 2026 ranges in Southern California:
